About
I am Carole, the founder and teacher at PilateStance.
I am passionate about the neuro-muscular system and functional movement. A lack of physical fitness is not the first thing that I blame when my clients cannot perform a physical task effectively, efficiently and/or in a healthy way for their body. I always firstly consider their abilities in relation to their body awareness and how they prioritise and use this sensory information. Once their body awareness has improved, we can move on to develop their technical skills, and finally their physical capacity.
Whether teaching a group or a private session, I do not impose a “one size fits all” method on my clients, but instead help them learn and explore more about themselves through movement (what they’re avoiding or overusing) while looking for and experiencing new ways of moving freely. My aim is to create an environment that promotes mental and physical learning through a collaborative, honest and positive relationship with my clients.
I am always looking to increase my skills and knowledge through continuous learning and professional training. I can teach in French & English.
My story
After a career in digital project management in Paris, with Classical Pilates as my fitness routine for 10 years, I decided to make Pilates more than a hobby when I moved to London. I completed my matwork training with Body Control Pilates in 2017 and I have since deepened my understanding of Pilates and done further specialist training. I hold a Level 4 Qualification in Instructing Pilates Matwork making me one of fewer than 25 teachers in the UK with this advanced certification. A Level 4 certificate represents the highest level of achievement within the health and fitness industry, demonstrating advanced knowledge and skills to teach Pilates across a comprehensive spectrum of clients, including special population groups.
With three years of experience collaborating with physiotherapists in a clinical environment, I chose to pursue osteopathy, as I believe it offers a holistic approach to understanding the human body. Currently, I am in my second year at the British College of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM), where I am deepening my knowledge of how the body’s interconnected systems contribute to overall health and well-being.
I am a member of the Body Control Pilates Association and the Body Control Pilates Academy.
